The 2014 Dominion Leasing Software User Conference was held May 18-20, 2014, at the Wyndham Virginia Crossings Hotel & Conference Center. Known for its Southern charm, modern amenities, and gracious service, the Wyndham Virginia Crossings Hotel & Conference Center is situated on over 20 beautiful acres. The beautifully manicured lawns and gardens which surround the hotel helped set the tone for a wonderful conference experience. It was in this pristine setting that conference attendees and Dominion Leasing Software staff came together for our annual gathering of education and fellowship.
The 2014 User Conference was kicked off by a Sunday evening reception, featuring a cocktail hour followed by dinner on the hotel patio. Overlooking the pool deck and with the surrounding golf course in the background, it was a perfect evening to greet new attendees and reconnect with old friends. Entertainment for the evening was provided by local magician and entertainer Jonathan Austin, who dazzled the group with his slight-of-hand and off-beat humor. Mr. Austin has performed at a variety of venues and occasions including Presidential Inaugurations, the Kennedy Center, and Walt Disney World; and can now add the Dominion Leasing Software User Conference to his very impressive resume!
Sessions began Monday morning and featured a full day of both educational and informative sessions. A variety of speakers presented topics ranging from reporting features and wizards, to more complex topics including contract rewrites and depreciation settings. A Version 4.17 recap session provided attendees with a snapshot of the over 100 updates made available in the 2014 System release. The upcoming LeaseComplete Version 5 release was front-and-center with sessions including a complete overview of the system, technical sessions related to the upgrade process for existing clients, and a Q&A session in which attendees were able to get their specific questions answered by the Dominion Development Team. The conference sessions ended with a peak into the Dominion “crystal ball” at future enhancements currently in the development pipeline.
Of course, the 2014 User Conference simply wouldn’t be complete without our famous Monday evening celebration! The cocktail hour provided an opportunity for attendees to reflect on the day’s events as they unwound and prepared for what was to come. After a delicious dinner which included seared beef tenderloin, roasted chicken, and fresh vegetables, it was time for the entertainment to begin! First up was an “Elaine Benes (of Seinfeld) Dance-off”, where volunteers did their best impression of Elaine’s famous dance moves. After crowning a champion dancer, the DJ continued with a variety of other “contests”; while some attendees chose to entertain themselves with the props and costumes available at the Dominion Photo Booth. It is fair to say that a good time was had by all.
